New iPhone App for people deciding to divorce!
If you have an iPhone and you are going through a divorce, you now have a cheaper, quicker option than going to a lawyer. A new app has just been released for the iPhone that allows people considering a divorce to create a spreadsheet that helps divide their assets fairly and even offers a calculator for alimony to balance the division when necessary, according to Michelle O’Neil from O’Neil, Anderson Family Law and DivorceCentral.com. This new revolutionary iPhone app, called Estate Divider, is the second application from divorceapps.com and can be found on iTunes for $9.99. Not a bad price, considering the costly alternative.
The features of Estate Divider are really quite brilliant. With this new application, you are now able to take care of the following things on your own, instead of resorting to an attorney:
Input the values for the various assets and liabilities of the marital estate;
Assign specific assets and liabilities to “Spouse A” or “Spouse B” or allocate asset value between “Spouse A” and “Spouse B”;
Input an overall desired division of the estate between “Spouse A” and “Spouse B”;
Calculate the amount of money needed to accomplish the desired split, express the amount of money needed to accomplish the split in terms of either a cash payment from the spouse with the higher initial allocation, or alimony, or a mix of both;
If any of the equalizing payment is allocated to alimony, determine the post tax equivalent of the alimony to be received by payee and the post tax cost of the alimony to be paid by paying spouse;
Calculate any overall tax advantage to either spouse by structuring part or all of the equalizing payment as alimony;
Email the desired settlement and outcome of the property division.
Estate Divider is the latest creation of Michelle May O’Neil and the Fort Worth forensic CPA Bryan Rice. With their company just beginning in 2010, it strives to provide Divorce solutions for people who want to save money on their divorce.
Divorceapps.com also has another application called Divorce Cost & Prep which was released in May and basically illustrates hidden cost involved in divorce like maintaining two homes, transportation costs for children, and costs for parking at lawyers offices etc. It also helps a spouse put together all of the documents that a lawyer might need to process the divorce.
Even if you need to go out and buy a new iPhone solely for this application, you still may be cutting down the costs of a traditional divorce.

not sure about this one
I can see how this kind of a tool would be helpful, and if you really know about divorce and the process it could save you a lot of money, but honestly I think there might be a danger in using something like this. If you don't totally understand each step of the divorce process and complete all of them, it seems dangerous. You might miss something important and get screwed, you might end up spending more money than you would have if you just got a lawyer, just a thought
