Children and Divorce

I am wondering if anybody can give me some advice on what to do for my kids during this divorce. I have read too many horror stories about children being mentally and emotionally troubled because of parents neglecting their parental duties during divorce. My ex and I are both in agreement that our children are the most important aspect of our lives, so we want to do everything in our power to keep them happy and get them through this divorce without long-lasting problems.

If anyone has any advice on this or similar topics, I would greatly appreciate it.

swallow a big old piece of humble pie, and just be a Dad....not matter what your differences are with thier Mom, you're still Dad...keep your personal animosity with thier mom OUT of your relationships with your kids. Don't talk bad about her in front of them either....they'll pick up on that real fast. Try to see them every day if you can. How old are hey?

thanks for the help

Thank you for the advice, I'm sure I am not the only one learning from it.

What would you suggest if I wasn't able to see the kids every day? Is talking on the phone enough?

I understand not arguing in front of the kids or talking badly about their mom in front of them...sometimes it seems impossible to do that 100% of the time...

what else has worked for you? I read so many random pieces of advice that I don't know what to do with them.
